Angelika Markul participe au festival Noor Riyadh en Arabie Saoudite
For the third edition of Noor Riyadh, the largest festival of light and art in the world, artists from more than 35 countries are gathered in the Saudi capital.
With a curation by Jérôme Sans, Noor Riyadh is presenting this year more than 100 artists around the theme: The Bright Side of The Desert Moon.
Artist Angelika Markul participates in this exhibition that will be held from November 30 to December 16. See below some mesmerizing images of her video installation Zone Iguazu that she shared with us this week!
Filmed at Iguazu Falls, the film presents a giant waterfall on the border of Argentine and Brazil. Considered to be among the world’s most visually and acoustically stunning sites, the waterfall is presented in a reverse movement, with long and scarcely changing shots. The setting is devoid of human presence, and the video focuses mainly on the site’s grandeur.
The water recedes back into the cliff, as if traveling back in time, pointing to the artist’s recurring theme of the passage and inversion of time. By unveiling this remote natural site of mesmerizing beauty, Angelika Markul creates new platforms for meditations, where the real and the imaginary poetically meet.
For ColAAb, Angelika Markul, passionate about design, created a coffee table and two lighting fixtures, very minimalist and poetic furniture that echo her latest works.
